February 12, 2008: The salon featured Grammy-nominated, NEA (National Endowment for the Arts) Jazz Master pianist, HANK JONES, accompanied by JOHN CLAYTON (bass) and JOE LA BARBERA (drums). The performance included two sets of music and a “salon” dialogue with Hank Jones, the audience and host MIKE MELVOIN. The audience was blessed with a surprise performance by Italian Jazz vocalist ROBERTA GAMBORINI. Ms. Gamborini is currently working in the studio with Mr. Jones on a new project.

Friends of Jazz Board President, Bert Massing, also presented Mr. Jones with the Duke Ellington Masters of Jazz Award in recognition of his invaluable contributions to the world of jazz.
